League of Women Voters of Sioux City and Western Iowa Tech to Host County Candidate Forum Oct. 5

Posted
(SBA) SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The League of Women Voters of Sioux City, in partnership with Western Iowa Tech Community College’s Mass Media Department, will host a candidate forum on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rocklin Center at Western Iowa Tech Community College. The event is free and open to the public.

All candidates for Woodbury County supervisor and Woodbury County attorney have confirmed their participation.

The League will moderate the two-hour forum. Each candidate will begin with a two-minute opening statement, followed by questions from a panel consisting of representatives from the League of Women Voters of Sioux City, local media, and a Western Iowa Tech Community College student.

During the second half of the forum, audience members will have an opportunity to submit written questions. Both candidates in each race will answer each selected question. The forum will conclude with closing statements from each participating candidate.

For voters unable to attend in person, WITCC’s Mass Media Department will livestream the forum on its YouTube channel and provide the video feed to KCAU. The forum’s audio will also be broadcast live on WITCC’s radio station. The League will share viewing and listening information on the League of Women Voters of Sioux City’s Facebook page.

Oct. 6 legislative forum will not proceed
The League also announced that its previously scheduled Iowa legislative candidate forum on Tuesday, Oct. 6, will not move forward at this time.

The Sioux City League invites candidates in contested races to participate in its candidate forums. National League guidance recommends canceling a debate when only one candidate in a race accepts the invitation, rather than holding a forum featuring that candidate alone.

As of the date of this release, Bob Henderson, Christopher Prosch and Josh Steinhoff had either declined their invitations or had not responded. The League will therefore not proceed with the Oct. 6 legislative forum. This decision does not affect the Oct. 5 forum for Woodbury County candidates.
