Woodbury County Zoning Commission-NOTICE OF PUBLIC TOWN HALL MEETING (9/21/26)

The Woodbury County Zoning Commission will hold a public town hall meeting (hearing/listening session) to gather citizen input on potential amendments to the Woodbury County Zoning Ordinance regarding data center facilities in the unincorporated areas of Woodbury County, Iowa, on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 7:00 PM. Said public town hall meeting will be held at the Moville Area Community Center, 815 Main Street, Moville, IA 51039.

The Zoning Commission is studying data centers with the mission to prepare a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on how to facilitate the permitting application process in the Woodbury County Zoning Ordinance as a zoning ordinance text amendment or another ordinance. The Commission will be seeking input on potential requirements and regulations, as well as zoning districts (locations) such as the General Industrial (GI) Zoning District, and the permitting application process itself, such as a conditional use permit or a comparable mechanism.

IMPORTANT JURISDICTIONAL NOTICE: These town hall meetings and proposed zoning regulations apply ONLY to unincorporated areas under Woodbury County zoning jurisdiction. Incorporated cities and towns within Woodbury County regulate their own zoning ordinances and corporate boundaries independently.
