How artists can promote themselves

On Sunday, May 19 at 2:00 PM at the Betty Strong Encounter Center, Henry Payer, Ho Chunk of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, will share how artists can promote themselves.  Admission is free; reception follows.

Payer’s works have to do with the culture he comes from. Initially trained as an acrylic painter, he also works with mixed media, a lot of collage, utilizing found objects, site specific material, historic documents, postcards, and just whatever could make a mark or can be manipulated in terms of color or activating the history of a piece.

Born in Sioux City, IA in 1986, Payer received a BFA from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM in 2008. He studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison obtaining an MFA in 2013. Henry has exhibited his work at locations such as the Great Plains Art Museum in Lincoln, NE; Sherry Leedy Contemporary Art in Kansas City, MO; and Overture Galleries located in Madison, WI. He currently lives in Sioux City, IA.
