St. Joseph Church Seeks Tree Sponsors Following Tornado Damage

(SBA) - According to a letter released to the public by St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, the parish is seeking sponsors to help replace trees lost during the May tornado that caused significant damage to the church grounds and cemetery.

Pastor Fr. Shinoj Jose said many mature trees that had stood on the property for decades were destroyed in the storm. The parish plans to plant approximately 20 replacement trees throughout the church grounds and cemetery to restore the beauty of the property while creating a lasting symbol of hope and renewal.

Local tree experts estimate each healthy replacement tree will cost approximately $300. The church is inviting individuals and families to sponsor a tree in memory of a loved one or friend, creating a living memorial that will benefit future generations.

Those interested in sponsoring a tree or learning more are encouraged to contact Fr. Jose or the St. Joseph parish office at (712) 946-5635. The church is located at 510 Tipton Street in Salix.
