Sioux Valley Community Credit Union Celebrates Sergeant Bluff Remodel

(SBA) - On June 17th, Sioux Valley Community Credit Union marked a significant milestone with the grand reopening of its newly remodeled Sergeant Bluff branch. The celebration brought together staff, members, and community partners to honor both the transformation of the space and the legacy of a credit union that has served the Siouxland area since 1952.

Founded at the former Sioux Air Base, Sioux Valley Community Credit Union has grown to serve over 3,500 members across Sergeant Bluff and the surrounding region. Known for its member-first approach and standout programs—like the popular 2% buydown for refinancing auto and motorcycle loans—the credit union continues to evolve while staying true to its roots.

During the event, CEO John Parks reflected on the journey that led to the remodel. “Last year, our Planning and Fixed Assets Committee worked closely with Kent Clause to design the optimal floor plan,” Parks shared. “After many iterations, I believe they truly nailed it.”

The remodel was brought to life through a partnership with local contractors, including H&H Builders. Parks praised their craftsmanship and professionalism, noting, “Their quality of work, guidance on flooring, cabinetry, and color selection, and their professionalism throughout the project were outstanding.”

He also extended heartfelt thanks to the many subcontractors—many of whom are Sioux Valley members themselves—as well as the credit union’s Board of Directors for their bold vision. Special recognition was given to branch manager Kelly Dowdy and the entire Sioux Valley team for continuing to serve members seamlessly throughout the construction process.

As a full-service, not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution, Sioux Valley offers a comprehensive suite of services, including savings and checking accounts, money markets, CDs, and competitive loan options for vehicles, homes, and more. The remodel reflects the credit union’s ongoing commitment to providing a welcoming, efficient space for members to manage their financial lives.

Most importantly, Parks emphasized the role of the community in the credit union’s success. “Thank you to our members in Sergeant Bluff and the surrounding community. Your support since 1952 has made all of this possible.”

The celebration also coincided with the 100th anniversary of the Iowa Credit Union Act—a fitting backdrop for a day that honored both history and progress. “We are people helping people,” Parks concluded. “And at Sioux Valley, our team is committed every day to making a difference in our members’ lives and the communities we serve.”
