(SBA) - Raymond “Ray” Gilbert Wink, 93, of Sergeant Bluff, IA passed away August 4, 2024 at a local nursing home surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, August 9, 2024, with Pastor David Halaas officiating, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Ray was born on April 7, 1931 in Moville, Iowa, the son of Fred and Ida (Albers) Wink. Ray enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., serving 2 years in Korea where he was a gunner/ point man. He was a proud Marine and a skilled marksman. Raymond married Rosanna “Rosie” Watkins on July 27, 1950. Ray lived in the Siouxland area for the past 40 years in Salix, Sioux City, and Sergeant Bluff. Ray worked at numerous packing houses and drove the school bus for the Sergeant Bluff School for over 30 years. He also did maintenance/mobile home repair in Sergeant Bluff.
He enjoyed fishing in Canada, woodworking, bowling, square dancing, and was a long-time member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Cheryl (Bob) Nyreen of Alcester, SD; daughter-in-law, Elaine Wink of Sioux City; grandchildren, Josh (Bethany), Jennifer, Nicholas (Micayla), and Kassandra (Zach); great grandchildren, Brooke, Isaiah, Aubrey, Logan, Dallas, Rowdy, and Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister, Arlene (Albert) Bottjen; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bernice (Oscar) Minter; grandson, Jason Wink; nephew, Kerry Minter; and a son, Terry Wink.
