(SBA) - The Sioux City Public Museum’s latest exhibit, Iconic Views of Sioux City: 1886-1962, presents a selection of recognizable images of Sioux City over the last century and a half.
The collections of the Sioux City Public Museum include hundreds of thousands of images of Sioux City and the surrounding region. Iconic Views of Sioux City: 1886-1962 features 23 large format photographs of Sioux City scenes ranging from the grading of Pearl Street in 1886 to a 1962 aerial view of downtown Sioux City showing newly constructed Interstate 29. Other highlights include images of the Sioux City Stockyards district, Sioux City Central High School and the Combination Bridge.
The exhibit also includes an extensive slideshow of over 150 additional images, designed to engage the audience and create an immersive experience. Most images in the presentation are not on display in the Museum, making this a rare opportunity for the public to experience more of the archival collection.
Iconic Views of Sioux City: 1886-1962 is on display through March 2, 2025. It joins the Society of Animal Artists: Art and the Animal exhibit, which closes on November 30.
The Sioux City Public Museum is located at 607 4th Street in downtown Sioux City. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 712-279-6174 or visit SiouxCityMuseum.org.
