(SBA) - Have you ever wanted to say, "Thank you for all you have done"? Now's your chance! Write a thank you letter to a veteran!
On June 3, 2025, Midwest Honor Flight will be flying over 80 American heroes to visit their memorial in our Nation's Capital. The welcome celebration begins on the flight back to Sioux City with Mail Call. This is a very personal and touching way to let our veterans know that, even after all these years, their sacrifices are still appreciated. Veterans who have participated in previous Honor Flights continue to cherish the letters they received for the rest of their lives. Examples range from simple cards, hand-written letters, or coloring pages from young children. Colorful, handmade cards from both adults and children are the ones veterans linger over the longest!
If you choose to write a letter, please send it to the address below by May 17 to ensure it arrives and is sorted in time for Mission 26 on June 3, 2025.
If you'd like to write to other veterans as well, please address your letters to "Dear Veteran" and remove the "ATTN" line in the address below. Thank you for your help with this operation! Failure to follow this labeling exactly or missing the postmark deadline will result in the loss of mail by USPS or it being returned to sender due to insufficient information or being too late for the flight. We have more than 250 veterans flying this spring, and this specific labeling is imperative to ensure veterans receive the mail intended for them. Please do not use nicknames (like "Dutch") or generic names that may apply to multiple veterans (like "Grandpa Bill").
Mail Call is for the veterans being honored on the mission only. Guardians who are also veterans will not receive Mail Call. Please only send mail for the recipient veterans on their Honor Flight.
Follow the flight on their return by tracking AA9751. Give our American heroes the welcome home they deserve! Join us at Hawthorne Aviation at SUX (look for the Midwest Honor Flight flags) to fill the space and give these veterans a welcome home they won’t forget after their busy day traveling in Washington, D.C. Family, friends, and community members are all welcome! Wear your Midwest Honor Flight shirts, bring your lawn chairs, make banners and posters, and make it a family night!
We can never repay our veterans for what they’ve done. An “Honor Flight Tour” is simply a small token of appreciation for everything they’ve done. Throughout their Midwest Honor Flight tour, the veterans are thanked, recognized, and admired for their service. They come home personally knowing how much their country loves and respects them.
Veterans will never forget this gratitude and adoration. They all deserve this one last opportunity to visit their memorials as America’s “Thank You” for their service and sacrifice.
