SPECIAL MEETING
August 13, 2026
Mayor Nelson opened the Special Meeting of the Salix City Council at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Council members present: Denise Burkhart. Tim Skidmore, Brenda Smith-Hansen, Emily Clayton, Gene Monk
Others present: Attorney John Hines
• Mayor Nelson requested a closed session per Iowa Code Chapter 21.5 to discuss strategy with legal counsel in matters where litigation is imminent and where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the government. Clayton motioned to go into closed session at 7:00 pm which was seconded by Burkhart. All ayes, motion carried.
• Motion by Burkhart to adjourn the closed session at 7:39 pm, seconded by Clayton.
• All ayes, motion carried.
• The special meeting was adjourned at 7:39 pm on motion from Skidmore and seconded by Monk.
