SALIX DRAINAGE DISCTRICT PUBLIC HEARING
– June 10th, 2026
Mayor Nelson opened the Salix Drainage District Classification Public Hearing at 6:30pm on Wednesday, June 10th, 2026.
Council Members Present: Denise Burkhart, Brenda Smith-Hansen, Emily Clayton, Gene Monk. Others Present: Chad Kehrt, V&K Engineer, Ashley Mareau, City of Salix, Drainage Clerk.
• Mayor Nelson opened the Public Forum for residents’ questions and comments.
There were no questions or comments from the public.
• Kehrt spoke of the process we have with our Grant Application, and how we cannot take or open bids for the ditch work before the grant is completed. Either money being awarded or denied.
• Mareau confirmed this Hearing Notice was published in the time required.
• No written comments or objections were received.
• No other comments or objections were voiced.
Salix received two bids for Storm Sewer Cleaning. RP Constructors, LLC & Johnson Service Co.
RP Constructors, LLC bid was 35,500.00. Johnson Service Co. bid was $19,250.00.
• Clayton motioned to accept Johnson Service Company’s bid for $19,250.00 Monk seconded. Roll call vote: Burkhart (aye), Smith-Hansen (aye), Clayton (aye), Monk (aye).
Kehrt spoke of the need to set an assessment figure for the County to begin assessing those in the Salix Drainage District.
• Monk motioned to set assessment at $65,000.00. Smith-Hansen seconded.
Roll call vote: Burkhart (aye), Smith-Hansen (aye), Clayton (aye), Monk (aye).
Clayton motioned to close the hearing, Monk seconded, all ayes. Mayor Nelson closed the hearing at 6:43 pm.
