PUBLIC NOTICE OF INTENT TO FILL OFFICE OF THE CITY COUNCIL VACANCY BY APPOINTMENT
City of Salix Council member Nick Black announced his resignation effective May 27, 2026. The Salix City Council proposes to fill this vacancy by appointment as provided by the Code of Iowa, Section 372.13 (2)(a) at the July 8th, 2026, City Council Meeting at 7:00 p.m. The term of this appointment will expire immediately following the next regular November 2027 city election.
Any Salix resident that is an eligible elector, resides in Salix city limits and is interested in filling this vacancy is encouraged to submit a “letter of interest” to the City Clerk, City of Salix, PO Box 240, Salix, IA 51052 by July 8th, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., expressing your desire to be appointed to this position and why you feel you would be a good city representative for our community.
You are further notified that the electors of the City of Salix have the right to file a petition requiring the vacancy be filled by a “special election” as provided by the Code of Iowa, Section 372.13 (2)(a). This petition must be filed with the City Clerk within fourteen (14) days of this Notice or the appointment, whichever is later.
