(SBA) - SIOUX CITY, Iowa (May 3, 2024) –The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center is pleased to announce it has recently been awarded a grant from the Kind World Foundation and from the Siouxland Community Foundation Junior League/ Mildred Andersen. Both grants provide funding to provide free educational programming at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.

The Kind World Foundation grant of $10000 will fund our summer series of K-12 educational programs with continued support from CF Industries. Lewis and Clark Kids’ Club (grades 6-8) is a youth travel club to promote cultural awareness and encourage a love of the humanities through various field trips, and Family Camp (all ages) will be evenings where the entire family can engage in some fun and educational activities together.

The Junior League Mildred Anderson grant of $1500 funds will be used specifically to pay for guest speakers and classroom supplies for each Percy's Pals class. Percy’s Pals is the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center's new program for elementary school students. Percy is our pelican mascot. His statue sits on the south side of our property and is made of recycled scrap metal and was created by artist, Dale Lewis who also created the Scraposaurs that graced our lawn last year.
